In the 1990's, "smart" weapons have redefined how the military targets its enemies. In the near future they will be replaced by "brilliant-class" weapons, controlled by artificially intelligent computers. Among these weapons is a devastating breed of computer supervirus that is virtually unstoppable. And when it invades the United States' defense technology, the world will burn in its fever…
In this explosive debut, Bill Buchanan unleashes a disaster scenario of nightmare proportions—one that is all-too-plausible in an age of supercomputers and man-made intelligence. When the powerful lasers of America's space-based missile defense system begin knocking commercial airliners out of the sky, the world is suddenly a prisoner. Stealth technology is useless. Breaking the virus is impossible. And in the end, humanity's future will come down to one woman's daring ride to beat the machine.
Intense, chilling, and utterly relentless, Virus is a new breed of thriller that will change the way you think about the future.

It swept through Hama, Syria, like a plague. It affected every man, woman, and child, leaving thousands dead in its wake. it left the survivors begging for death—suffering from symptoms that could only be attributed to radiation poisoning. But whatever struck Hama left its buildings and structures intact and undamaged.
The operatives of the United States's Counterterrorist Center believe a pure-fusion neutron bomb was detonated in Hama. Devised by the Russians as far back as the 1960s, the weapon possesses the killing potential of a twenty-kiloton nuclear device—yet can be carried by one man.
And now, it will be up to another man—Dr. Graham Higgins—to help CTC agents search out and destroy the facilities manufacturing the bombs, before America's enemies set one off on U.S. soil…
